Yellow Polyp Red Fungia

Size: 2.5 inch

This Bright Yellow Polyp Red Fungia is "WYSIWYG" - What you see is what you get - so this one is yours!

Fungia corals (commonly called plate corals) are large-polyp stony (LPS) corals known for their flat, round, disk-like shape and radiating ridges that extend outward from a central mouth. Unlike many corals, they are free-living and not attached to rock as adults, allowing them to sit directly on the sand bed. They come in a wide range of colors including greens, purples, oranges, and multi-colored varieties, and their tentacles can extend to give them a soft, flowing appearance, especially during feeding.

For care, Fungia corals prefer moderate lighting and low to moderate, gentle water flow that allows their tissue to expand without being disturbed. They thrive in stable water conditions (temperature ~76–80°F, salinity ~1.025, alkalinity 8–9 dKH, calcium 400–450 ppm, magnesium 1250–1350 ppm) and should be placed on the sand bed to prevent damage to their underside. They are relatively hardy but can be sensitive to poor water quality or debris settling on their surface. While they rely on photosynthesis, they benefit from regular feeding of small meaty foods like mysis shrimp or finely chopped seafood, which can promote growth and recovery, especially if the coral has been stressed.
