Coral Colony - Scolymia - Gold Striped Red Mini (WYSIWYG)

Size: 2 inches

Scolymia corals (often called “scoly” corals, especially Scolymia australis) are large-polyp stony (LPS) corals prized for their vivid colors and fleshy, donut-shaped appearance. They typically display striking patterns in shades of red, green, orange, or multicolor blends, making them a favorite centerpiece in reef aquariums. Their rounded, inflated body and slow movement give them a unique, eye-catching presence.

For care, Scolymia prefer low to moderate lighting and very gentle water flow, as strong currents can prevent proper expansion and stress the coral. They thrive in stable water conditions (temperature ~76–80°F, salinity ~1.025, alkalinity 8–9 dKH, calcium 400–450 ppm, magnesium 1250–1350 ppm) and are sensitive to fluctuations. These corals are generally peaceful but can extend feeding tentacles at night. They benefit from occasional feedings of small meaty foods like mysis shrimp or reef blends, which can enhance color and growth.
