About Dr Mac

Dr. Mac Terzich has spent a lifetime immersed in the reef aquarium hobby, marine livestock care, coral propagation, and sustainable aquaculture. As a board-certified veterinary pathologist, lifelong reef hobbyist, diver, educator, and co-founder of Pacific East Aquaculture, Dr. Mac brings a rare combination of scientific training, hands-on husbandry experience, and real-world aquaculture knowledge to every part of the Pacific East Aquaculture operation.

His background as a veterinary pathologist gives him a deeper scientific understanding of animal health, disease processes, tissue response, nutrition, stress, and environmental stability. This professional training, combined with decades of practical reef-keeping experience, allows Dr. Mac to evaluate marine livestock with a level of insight that goes far beyond standard aquarium care.

Dr. Mac’s experience also extends far beyond keeping aquariums. He has traveled extensively to the source, working directly with coral and clam farmers, collectors, local communities, and aquaculture operations around the world. He has helped set up coral and clam farms in several international locations, gaining firsthand knowledge of how marine animals are collected, cultured, conditioned, and cared for before they ever reach the home aquarium.

We Travel to the Source

That firsthand experience is a major part of what makes Pacific East Aquaculture different. Dr. Mac does not simply sell marine life; he understands where it comes from, how it is collected or cultured, how it should be conditioned, and what it needs to thrive long term in a reef aquarium. His knowledge is built from professional veterinary pathology training, decades of direct observation, international travel, and daily hands-on work with corals, clams, fish, and invertebrates.

Pacific East Aquaculture has been serving serious reef hobbyists since 2000 and operates as a Maryland state licensed and inspected coral aquaculture facility. The facility grows thousands of coral frags annually and maintains many Pacific East Aquaculture exclusive corals through multiple generations, with new corals added to preserve genetic diversity and strengthen long-term aquaculture success.

Dr. Mac’s approach is rooted in animal health, sustainability, education, and responsible reef keeping. From coral propagation and clam culture to fish conditioning, live foods, acclimation, and reef aquarium husbandry, his goal has always been to help hobbyists succeed while supporting a more sustainable future for the marine aquarium hobby.

When customers buy from Pacific East Aquaculture, they are not only choosing healthy livestock. They are benefiting from decades of experience, scientific knowledge, veterinary pathology training, and the hands-on guidance of one of the most respected names in coral aquaculture and reef keeping.
