Coral Colony - Australomussa - Rainbow (WYSIWYG)

Size: 3 inches

Australomussa corals (Australomussa rowleyensis) are large-polyp stony (LPS) corals prized for their thick, fleshy tissue and bold, multi-colored patterns that often resemble high-end Acan or Micromussa varieties. They typically feature vibrant combinations of reds, oranges, greens, and blues with contrasting mouths, giving them a rich, textured appearance. Their growth form is encrusting to slightly lobed, forming a dense colony of inflated polyps that create a striking, high-end look in reef aquariums.

Care Guide
Australomussa prefer low to moderate lighting and low to moderate, indirect water flow to allow their fleshy polyps to expand without stress or tissue damage. They thrive in stable water conditions (temperature ~76–80°F, salinity ~1.025, alkalinity 8–9 dKH, calcium 400–450 ppm, magnesium 1250–1350 ppm) and are moderately hardy once established, though they can be sensitive to rapid changes. Place them on lower rockwork or the sand bed with enough space from neighboring corals, as they can extend short feeder or sweeper tentacles. While they receive much of their energy from photosynthesis, they benefit from regular feeding of small meaty foods or reef blends, which can enhance coloration and encourage faster growth.
