Coral Colony - Pectinia - Orange Teal (WYSIWYG)

Size: 5 inches

Pectinia corals (often called lettuce or cactus corals) are large-polyp stony (LPS) corals known for their thin, plate-like or ridged growth patterns and sharply defined, often serrated edges. They commonly display vibrant colors such as neon green, yellow, orange, and multicolored combinations, frequently with contrasting mouths or ridges that give them a striking, layered appearance. Their unique structure adds depth and texture to reef aquariums, and while they are visually stunning, they are also known for being more aggressive than many other LPS corals.

Care Guide
Pectinia prefer low to moderate lighting and low to moderate, indirect water flow to prevent damage to their delicate tissue. They require stable water parameters (temperature ~76–80°F, salinity ~1.025, alkalinity 8–9 dKH, calcium 400–450 ppm, magnesium 1250–1350 ppm) and do not tolerate rapid fluctuations. Placement is important—keep them on the sand bed or lower rockwork with plenty of space, as they can extend long sweeper tentacles, especially at night, capable of stinging nearby corals. While they rely primarily on photosynthesis, they may benefit from occasional feedings of small meaty or particulate foods. Care should be taken when handling, as their thin skeleton can be fragile and easily damaged.
