Care Guide: Toadstool Leather Corals, Sarcophyton sp., are generally easy to care for and do best in moderate lighting with moderate, indirect water flow that keeps the surface clean without blasting the coral. They may periodically close and shed a thin waxy layer as part of their natural cleaning process, so good flow helps them reopen fully. Keep water quality stable with typical reef parameters, avoid placing them where they can be irritated by aggressive corals, and allow room for growth as the cap expands.
