Bird’s Nest corals (Seriatopora species) are small-polyp stony (SPS) corals known for their delicate, thin branching structures that resemble a bird’s nest. They often come in vibrant shades of pink, green, or tan and add a light, airy look to reef aquariums. While beautiful and fast-growing, they are considered somewhat more sensitive than other SPS, making them better suited for aquarists with a bit of experience.

Bird’s Nest corals prefer moderate to high lighting and moderate, turbulent water flow to keep their delicate branches clean and healthy. They require very stable water conditions (temperature ~76–80°F, salinity ~1.025, alkalinity 8–9 dKH, calcium 400–450 ppm, magnesium 1250–1350 ppm) and can react poorly to fluctuations. While they primarily rely on photosynthesis, occasional feedings of fine planktonic foods can help support growth. Be sure to place them with enough space, as they can grow quickly and may be sensitive to contact with nearby corals.
