Astreopora corals are small-polyp stony (SPS) corals known for their dense, textured surfaces and unique star-like polyp structure. Often resembling Acropora at a glance, Astreopora have a more compact growth pattern, forming thick branches, encrusting bases, or rounded colonies depending on the species. They typically display soft, pastel to vibrant coloration in shades of green, yellow, cream, and occasionally pink or blue, adding subtle texture and contrast to a reef aquarium.

Care Guide
Astreopora prefer moderate to high lighting and moderate to strong, indirect water flow to keep their surface clean and free of detritus. They are generally considered slightly more forgiving than Acropora but still benefit from stable water parameters (temperature ~76–80°F, salinity ~1.025, alkalinity 8–9 dKH, calcium 400–450 ppm, magnesium 1250–1350 ppm). While primarily photosynthetic, they may benefit from occasional feeding of fine particulate foods. With proper placement and consistent conditions, Astreopora can develop into dense, attractive colonies that add depth and structure to a reef tank.
