Orange-red Branching Frogspawn
Size Approximately: 2 inches fully opened - WYSIWYG
Frogspawn corals (Euphyllia divisa and related species) are large-polyp stony (LPS) corals known for their branching structure and clusters of tentacles that resemble frog eggs, giving them their common name. They come in attractive shades of green, gold, and brown, often with glowing tips under blue lighting, and their flowing movement adds a lively, natural feel to reef aquariums. They are moderately easy to keep, making them a popular choice for both new and experienced reef hobbyists.
For care, Frogspawn corals prefer moderate lighting and gentle to moderate, indirect water flow to allow their tentacles to extend fully without being damaged. They require stable water conditions (temperature ~76–80°F, salinity ~1.025, alkalinity 8–9 dKH, calcium 400–450 ppm, magnesium 1250–1350 ppm) and can be sensitive to rapid changes. Like other Euphyllia corals, they can extend sweeper tentacles, so provide adequate spacing from nearby corals. While they get energy from photosynthesis, they benefit from occasional feedings of small meaty foods like mysis shrimp to encourage growth and health.
