Description and Care

The Jumbo Highlighter Rose Bubble Tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor) is an impressive marine anemone featuring a spectacular combination of fluorescent orange, brilliant green, and soft golden-peach coloration.

This beautiful specimen displays an abundance of elongated tentacles with vibrant neon-green bases that gradually transition into glowing orange and coral-peach tips. The contrasting colors create a striking highlighter effect, making this anemone particularly attractive under reef aquarium lighting.

One of the most distinctive characteristics of this specimen is its densely clustered arrangement of tentacles. Numerous groups of slender, gently curved tentacles extend outward across the expanded oral disc, creating a lush, flowing appearance.

Unlike Bubble Tip Anemones with strongly inflated, rounded tentacle tips, this specimen displays predominantly elongated tentacles with softly rounded ends. This variation in tentacle shape is normal for Entacmaea quadricolor and contributes to its graceful appearance.

The central oral disc reveals subtle greenish-brown and pale cream tones beneath the surrounding tentacles. Its intricate radial structure provides an attractive contrast against the bright fluorescent colors.

The specimen's broad, expansive form and densely arranged tentacles create a particularly impressive presentation, making this Jumbo Highlighter Rose Bubble Tip Anemone an eye-catching centerpiece for a spacious reef aquarium.

Native to tropical Indo-Pacific waters, Entacmaea quadricolor inhabits coral reefs and rocky reef environments. It typically attaches its pedal disc securely within protected rock crevices while extending its tentacles into the surrounding water.

This photosynthetic anemone maintains a symbiotic relationship with microscopic dinoflagellates living within its tissues. These organisms provide an important source of energy through photosynthesis, while the anemone can supplement its nutrition by capturing small marine prey.

Bubble Tip Anemones are natural hosts for several clownfish species, offering a fascinating opportunity to observe the relationship between clownfish and their host anemones.

With its brilliant orange-peach tentacles, fluorescent green bases, and impressive Jumbo presentation, this Highlighter Rose Bubble Tip Anemone is a spectacular addition to an established marine aquarium.

This WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) specimen has been individually photographed, allowing you to purchase the exact anemone pictured.

Additional Care Notes

Aquarium Environment: The Jumbo Highlighter Rose Bubble Tip Anemone should be maintained in a mature, established marine aquarium with stable water chemistry, appropriate lighting, and consistent circulation. Its large size requires additional room for expansion and potential movement.

Placement and Attachment: Entacmaea quadricolor typically anchors its pedal disc within rocky crevices. Provide secure rockwork with protected attachment locations and enough surrounding space to prevent contact with neighboring corals. Newly introduced anemones may relocate until they find suitable conditions.

Lighting and Water Flow: Moderate to high reef lighting supports the anemone's photosynthetic symbionts. Gradually acclimate it to changes in light intensity. Moderate, indirect water movement should allow its tentacles to sway naturally without continuously folding or distorting the oral disc.

Feeding and Nutrition: Symbiotic dinoflagellates provide much of the anemone's energy through photosynthesis. Occasional supplemental feeding with small portions of thawed mysis shrimp, finely chopped marine shrimp, or other appropriately sized marine foods may provide additional nutrition. Avoid oversized meals and excessive feeding.

Compatibility: Bubble Tip Anemones possess stinging tentacles capable of damaging neighboring corals and other sessile invertebrates. Larger specimens require generous clearance, particularly because they may move. Protect powerhead, wavemaker, and overflow intakes.

Clownfish Associations: Entacmaea quadricolor naturally hosts several clownfish species, including Maroon Clownfish (Amphiprion biaculeatus), Tomato Clownfish (Amphiprion frenatus), and Clark's Clownfish (Amphiprion clarkii). Other clownfish species may adopt Bubble Tip Anemones in captivity, although hosting is not guaranteed.

Handling and Safety: Avoid unnecessary handling and never forcibly detach an attached anemone from rockwork. Damage to its pedal disc can compromise its health. Use appropriate precautions when working around its stinging tentacles.

Long-Term Care: Healthy Bubble Tip Anemones generally maintain secure attachment, regular expansion, and responsive tentacles. Tentacle shape can vary naturally, and the absence of pronounced bubble tips does not necessarily indicate poor health. Persistent deflation, tissue deterioration, prolonged mouth gaping, or loss of attachment should be investigated promptly.

Order FAQs

About Our Facility

Q: Are your corals aquacultured?
A: Yes. Many of our corals are grown in our Maryland Certified & Licensed Coral Aquaculture Facility.

Q: Why choose aquacultured corals?
A: Aquacultured corals are:
- More sustainable
- Better adapted to aquarium life
- Typically hardier than wild specimens

Q: Who selects and grows your corals?
A: Our corals are grown and curated by Dr. Mac a Board Certified Veterinary Pathologist with decades of hands-on reef experience.

Ordering & Shipping

Q: What does WYSIWYG mean?
A: “What You See Is What You Get.” The exact coral shown in the photo is the one you will receive.

Q: Can I request a specific color or variation?
A: For WYSIWYG items, what’s pictured is what you get. For non-WYSIWYG items, we do our best to match color and size, but natural variation occurs.

Q: Can I combine multiple orders to save on shipping?
A: Yes—contact us before shipping and we’ll consolidate when possible.

Q: How are corals and fish shipped safely?
A: We use insulated boxes, temperature control (heat/cold packs), and overnight delivery to ensure safe arrival.

Q: What days do you ship?
A: Typically Monday–Wednesday to avoid weekend delays.

Q: Do I need to be home for delivery?
A: Yes—someone should be available to receive livestock immediately.

Q: What if my coral or fish arrives dead (DOA)?
A: Contact us within a specified timeframe (e.g., 2 hours) with clear photos, and we will resolve it quickly.

Q: What voids the guarantee?
A: Missed deliveries, improper acclimation, or delays beyond our control.

Live Arrival Guarantee

Q: What if my coral or fish arrives dead (DOA)?
A: Contact us within a specified timeframe (e.g., 2 hours) with clear photos, and we will resolve it quickly.

Q: What voids the guarantee?
A: Missed deliveries, improper acclimation, or delays beyond our control.

Acclimation & First 24 Hours

Q: How do I acclimate new livestock?
A: Float to match temperature, then drip acclimate before placing in tank.

Q: Should I dip corals before adding them?
A: Yes but be careful, coral dips help prevent pests but use caution. Certain corals might benefit from a short quarantine period instead of a dip so as to further stressing them.

Q: Why does my coral look closed or stressed?
A: This is normal after shipping—most corals open within 24–72 hours.

Aquarium Setup & Compatibility

Q: Where should I place my coral in the tank?
A: Placement depends on the coral type (LPS, SPS, soft). Lighting and flow requirements vary—check each product description.

Q: Can different corals touch each other?
A: Many corals have sweeper tentacles and can sting neighbors. Always allow space.

Q: How fast will my coral grow?
A: Growth depends on species, lighting, water quality, and feeding.
