Care Guide: Montipora digitata generally does best under moderate to high reef lighting with moderate to strong, turbulent water flow. Provide enough circulation to keep detritus from settling between branches without directing a constant high-pressure stream at the coral. Place it on stable mid to upper rockwork with plenty of room for branching growth. Acclimate gradually when moving the coral into stronger lighting. Maintain stable alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, salinity, temperature, nitrate, and phosphate. Montipora relies heavily on photosynthesis but may also benefit from fine particulate coral foods and naturally occurring plankton.
