Coral Colony - Trachyphyllia - Multicolorl (WYSIWYG)

Trachyphyllia corals (commonly called open brain corals) are large-polyp stony (LPS) corals known for their vibrant colors and fleshy, dome-like or open “brain” structure. They often display striking patterns in shades of green, red, pink, and multicolor combinations, making them a standout centerpiece in reef aquariums. Their large, fleshy polyps and flowing appearance give them a soft, dynamic look when fully expanded. The meaty part of the coral tissue will swell with water many times the size of their skeleton, often to the point of swaying in a gentle flow. 

Care Guide
Trachyphyllia prefer low lighting and very gentle water flow, and are best placed on the sand bed where they can expand freely without damage. They require stable water conditions (temperature ~76–80°F, salinity ~1.025, alkalinity 8–9 dKH, calcium 400–450 ppm, magnesium 1250–1350 ppm) and can be sensitive to rapid changes. Avoid placing them where detritus can settle on them or where they may be stung by other corals. While they get energy from photosynthesis, they benefit greatly from regular feedings of small meaty foods like mysis shrimp, which can enhance growth and coloration.
