The Orange Storm Clownfish is a spectacular captive-bred designer variety of the Ocellaris Clownfish, scientifically known as Amphiprion ocellaris. It combines the familiar bright orange coloration of an Ocellaris Clownfish with dramatic, irregular white patterning that can cover much of the body. Because the pattern varies considerably among individuals, each Orange Storm has a distinctive appearance.
Orange Storm Clownfish were developed through selective breeding rather than hybridization. Sea & Reef Aquaculture developed the strain by breeding Black Storm Clownfish with bright orange Ocellaris Clownfish through multiple generations to retain the characteristic Storm pattern while replacing the predominantly black coloration with orange. The Orange Storm was first released to the aquarium hobby in 2018.
This specimen is captive bred/tank raised and maintained at Pacific East Aquaculture in dedicated systems separate from our wild-collected fish. Our captive-bred and tank-raised saltwater fish are carefully observed and maintained under professional husbandry protocols prior to sale, without the routine conditioning and proactive treatment protocols used for wild-collected specimens.
Like standard A. ocellaris, Orange Storm Clownfish are hardy, adaptable, and generally easy to maintain. They are reef compatible and do not require a host anemone to thrive. They may nevertheless establish a relationship with a suitable anemone or occasionally adopt certain corals or other aquarium structures as a surrogate host.

Aquarium Requirements:
Provide a stable, established saltwater aquarium with adequate swimming space and rockwork for shelter. An anemone is not required for an Orange Storm Clownfish to remain healthy in captivity.
Temperament:
Orange Storms have essentially the same behavioral characteristics as other Ocellaris Clownfish. They are relatively peaceful when young but can become territorial as they mature, particularly after forming a pair or establishing a preferred host or territory.
Reef Compatibility:
Reef compatible. Orange Storm Clownfish generally do not harm corals or other reef invertebrates and are excellent inhabitants for reef aquariums.
Diet and Feeding:
Orange Storm Clownfish are omnivores and readily accept a varied aquarium diet. Offer quality marine pellets and flakes along with frozen or fresh marine foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped seafood, and other appropriately sized foods. Sea & Reef reports that its captive-bred Orange Storms are accustomed to pellets, flakes, frozen mysis, and frozen brine shrimp.
Host Anemone:
A host anemone is optional. The natural host associations of wild A. ocellaris include the Magnificent Sea Anemone (Heteractis magnifica), Giant Carpet Anemone (Stichodactyla gigantea), and Mertens' Carpet Anemone (Stichodactyla mertensii). Captive-bred Ocellaris varieties may also accept other anemones in aquariums, including Bubble Tip Anemones (Entacmaea quadricolor), although this is not a natural A. ocellaris host association.
