The Ocellaris Clownfish, scientifically known as Amphiprion ocellaris, is one of the best-known and most popular marine aquarium fishes. Its bright orange body, three contrasting white bands, and dark fin edging create the classic clownfish appearance recognized by aquarists worldwide.
This listing is for a large captive-bred/tank-raised pair. Ocellaris Clownfish form stable pairs and are protandrous hermaphrodites, meaning individuals begin life as males and the dominant fish in a pair develops into the female. FishBase documents distinct pair formation and a maximum total length of approximately 11 cm, or 4.3 inches.
This pair is maintained at Pacific East Aquaculture in dedicated systems separate from our wild-collected fish. Our captive-bred and tank-raised saltwater fish are carefully observed and maintained under professional husbandry protocols prior to sale, without the routine conditioning and proactive treatment protocols used for wild-collected specimens.
Amphiprion ocellaris is naturally distributed through the Indo-West Pacific, including the eastern Indian Ocean, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and northwestern Australia. In nature, the species inhabits shallow coral reefs and calm lagoons, generally at depths of about 1–15 meters.
Ocellaris Clownfish are hardy, adaptable, and reef compatible. A host anemone is not necessary for captive-bred specimens to thrive, making them suitable for both reef aquariums and traditional marine community systems.

Aquarium Requirements:
Provide a stable, established marine aquarium with rockwork for shelter and sufficient swimming space. Since this listing is for a large established pair, provide adequate territory around their preferred resting or nesting area.
Temperament:
Ocellaris Clownfish are among the more manageable clownfish species, but an established pair can defend its preferred territory, especially when spawning.
Reef Compatibility:
Reef compatible. Ocellaris Clownfish are not coral predators and are well suited to reef aquariums.
Diet and Feeding:
Offer a varied omnivorous diet including quality marine pellets and flakes, mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped marine foods, and other appropriately sized frozen or prepared foods.
Host Anemone:
A host anemone is optional. In nature, Amphiprion ocellaris is associated with Heteractis magnifica, Stichodactyla gigantea, and Stichodactyla mertensii. Captive-bred fish can thrive without an anemone.
