The C-Quest Line Onyx Clownfish is a selectively bred form of the Percula Clownfish, scientifically known as Amphiprion percula. This established designer line is known for developing especially deep black coloration between the characteristic white bars while retaining bright orange coloration on the face, fins, and portions of the body.
The C-Quest Onyx line was developed through generations of selective breeding of Percula Clownfish showing increasingly dark pigmentation. Sea & Reef reports that the original C-Quest breeding program established more than 50 pairs of dark Perculas and repeatedly selected offspring with the strongest black coloration to develop the line.
The pair pictured shows the classic Onyx appearance with dark body coloration, contrasting white bands, and warm orange accents. Black pigmentation can continue to intensify as these fish mature.

As captive-bred Percula Clownfish, C-Quest Onyx Clownfish are hardy, reef compatible, and readily adapt to common prepared marine foods. A host anemone is not required for them to thrive.

Aquarium Requirements:
Provide a stable, established marine aquarium with rockwork for shelter and adequate open swimming space. These fish can be successfully maintained with or without a host anemone.
Temperament:
C-Quest Onyx Perculas generally share the relatively peaceful temperament of standard A. percula. A mature pair may become more territorial around a preferred resting site, spawning area, or host.
Reef Compatibility:
Reef compatible. They are not coral predators and are well suited to reef aquariums.
Diet and Feeding:
Feed a varied omnivorous diet including high-quality marine pellets and flakes, mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, and other appropriately sized frozen foods. Sea & Reef reports that its captive-bred Onyx Perculas readily accept pellets, flakes, frozen mysis, and frozen brine shrimp.
Host Anemone:
A host anemone is optional. Captive-bred C-Quest Onyx Clownfish can thrive and form pairs without one.
