This specimen displays deep purple to burgundy tentacle bases transitioning to vivid fluorescent yellow-green tips, surrounding bright pale blue-white centers. The strong contrast between the dark tentacles, luminous tips, and bright centers creates a distinctive starburst appearance when the colony is fully extended. Pachyclavularia violacea contains symbiotic photosynthetic dinoflagellates that provide much of its nutritional energy, while its extended polyps can also capture fine suspended plankton and organic particles. Green Star Polyps can form dense colonies and spread readily over available hard surfaces under favorable aquarium conditions.

Care Guide: Pachyclavularia violacea is generally hardy and adaptable in an established reef aquarium. Good circulation helps prevent debris from accumulating on the underlying mat and encourages consistent polyp extension. Place the colony on stable rockwork where it receives reliable light and water movement. Because Green Star Polyps can spread rapidly across neighboring rockwork, placement on an isolated rock can make future growth easier to manage. Maintain stable temperature and salinity and keep nitrate and phosphate measurable and reasonably consistent rather than excessively low. Most nutrition is supplied through photosynthesis, although fine suspended plankton and organic particles may provide supplemental nutrition. Leave adequate space between the colony and slower-growing neighboring corals.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2133/7655/files/green-star-polyps-soft-under-25-pea-u25-oc2301.jpg?v=1792770931
