The contrasting color morphs create a highly decorative mixed colony on a single frag. \u003cem\u003eZoanthus\u003c\/em\u003e polyps are connected by a common tissue mat and can gradually spread across adjacent rockwork under favorable reef conditions. They contain symbiotic zooxanthellae that provide much of their energy through photosynthesis, while the polyps can also capture suspended organic matter and very fine foods.
