This specimen displays warm reddish-brown to bronze tentacles accented by exceptionally bright fluorescent yellow-green tips, creating the vivid contrast reflected in the “Candy Corn” name. When fully expanded, the numerous sweeping tentacles give the colony substantial movement and visual texture. Galaxea fascicularis contains symbiotic photosynthetic dinoflagellates that provide much of its nutritional energy, while its polyps are also capable of capturing plankton and appropriately sized meaty foods. As the colony grows, new corallites develop closely together to form increasingly dense clusters.

Care Guide: Galaxea fascicularis generally performs well under moderate reef lighting with moderate, variable water movement. Flow should be sufficient to gently move the tentacles and keep debris from settling without continuously blasting the fleshy polyps. Maintain stable temperature and salinity along with consistent alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium to support skeletal growth. Nitrate and phosphate should remain measurable and reasonably stable rather than being driven excessively low. Photosynthesis supplies much of the coral’s energy, although occasional targeted feeding with appropriately sized marine foods can provide supplemental nutrition.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2133/7655/files/candy-corn-galaxea-lps-under-25-pea-u25-oc2315.jpg?v=1792804286
